When it comes to safety tests, traditional SUVs haven’t made any excellent records. However, the new generation of today’s compact SUVs has achieved as much as four stars in the Euro NCAP test. These SUVs include the likes of the Nissan X-Trail, Volkswagen Tiguan and Lanrover Freelander/LR2.
The Nissan X-Trail, in particular, has attained a four star rating when it comes to adult and child protection. However, points have been taken off because of injuries to the legs of the passengers and the neck of the driver when it comes to frontal impact.
The Nissan X-Trail also achieved a total of two stars when it comes to pedestrians. This is mainly because of its bonnet design which does not deliver much protection for the legs and head of a pedestrian.
