Nissan’s upcoming model for Brazil
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007Coming up with new models every now and then is top priority of automobile companies. Nissan Motors, for example, has just announced plans of starting a new line of Nissan vehicles for Brazil until 2009.
A total of US$ 150 million is allotted to shoulder the finances for the said two-year model lineup of the Japanese car company. Nissan said that it will work more on a new passenger car in its plant based in Curitiba, which is in southern part of Brazil.
Aside from coming up with a car fit for the country, the company also aims to produce one that will cost lesser compared to its counterparts from other brands. Passenger cars that are from Mexico usually cost a lot and Nissan wants to provide a new model that is cheap but effective on the road.
Without a name and tag price yet, the new model from Nissan is set to join two other great finds from the company, Nissan Xterra and Frontier. The passenger car, along with the two muscled vehicles, is set to lead the Japanese automobile brand in the new Brazil plant for next year. These vehicles, which are equipped with precision-engineered Nissan Parts, are also tasked to improve more the company’s sales in the country. Even before the year closes, Nissan is already confident of its good year. With 11,500 units under its name, things look bright for the brand in Brazil, thus a new model is needed to keep up the positive output.
“Besides the launches, one of the main highlights this year was the progress that we made in several fields that will provide support to the future increase in local production,” said Thomas Besson, who is the president of Nissan in Brazil. “We have reinforced our engineering and are working hard on the nationalization of parts and components, which will ensure cost reduction and increased speed and productivity in years to come.”
